TD Bank Mobile & Tablet App
When I joined TD Bank’s digital design team, our goal was to modernize the mobile and tablet banking experience—an effort that required aligning multiple teams across borders, platforms, and priorities. The challenge wasn’t just to refresh the interface, but to establish a scalable design system that could unify the experience across devices and breakpoints while meeting strict accessibility and security requirements.

Discovery & Alignment
The first step was understanding how customers interacted with TD’s existing mobile and tablet apps. Through user feedback, analytics, and stakeholder interviews, we identified key friction points—such as inconsistent navigation patterns, unclear hierarchy in transaction flows, and visual discrepancies across platforms. To align teams across Toronto and U.S. offices, we held weekly cross-border design syncs to share progress, document learnings, and ensure parity between iOS and Android experiences.

About
Cross-Border Relations
Working closely with cross-border teams in Toronto and the U.S., I collaborated daily with UX strategists, developers, and product owners to ensure design intent carried through to implementation. I created interactive prototypes to validate flows and microinteractions early, helping reduce development friction and speed up iteration cycles. In parallel, I helped define the foundational components and visual language that became the core of TD’s mobile design system—balancing brand consistency with the flexibility needed to support an evolving product ecosystem.
Prototyping & Validation
To streamline collaboration between design and development, I built interactive prototypes using tools like XD, InVision, and Axure. These prototypes allowed teams to quickly test flows such as funds transfer, bill payment, and mobile deposit. We conducted iterative usability sessions to validate navigation patterns and interaction timing—especially on tablet, where layout and gestures varied significantly.

System Thinking & Design Language
A major challenge was creating a cohesive design system that could scale across multiple devices and resolutions. I worked with the design leads to define core components, spacing rules, and interaction models that respected TD’s established brand while introducing a more modern, responsive aesthetic. This system allowed teams to design for multiple breakpoints efficiently, ensuring visual consistency from phone to tablet.
